About the role

We are looking for a Compliance Manager based in Guinea to support the Rio Tinto Ethics and Integrity (E&I) team in the management and implementation of the Ethics and Integrity Compliance Programme within the EMEA region.

This is a great opportunity to be recognized as an expert in your own area requiring specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise. You will ensure appropriate governance and controls to ensure Rio Tinto meets its legal and regulatory obligations, effectively understanding and managing risk to protect Rio Tinto's people, assets and reputation.

Reporting to the Compliance Lead - EMEA, you will be responsible for:

Supporting Business Units, exploration sites, corporate offices and new country entries within the region with respect to the compliance related issues and projects ensuring that employees, and third parties working on behalf of Rio Tinto, conduct business in an ethical and compliant manner.

• Identify compliance related risks, resolve compliance-related issues and ensure remediation action plans are established and implemented.
• Conduct monitoring activities to provide assurance over the effectiveness of the Compliance Programme and implementation of E&I Standards and Procedures.
• Support Risk, Assurance and Compliance forums, management meetings or other forums providing governance and oversight over compliance related risks.
• Perform/lead deep dive onsite reviews as allocated per the plan.
• Follow-up and embed agreed recommendations following deep dive reviews.
• Perform site engagements/health checks as and when required based on risk.
• Act as the Data Privacy Lead for Guinea, being the first point of contact for queries and issues around data privacy matters.
• Support the Investigations process as required. Ensure investigation remediation plans are implemented and tracked, and lessons learned disseminated.
• Lead and manage compliance contacts within Business Units.
• Work closely in a team environment with E&I Compliance, Data Privacy, Investigations and Operations teams to achieve E&I's objectives and priorities.
• Adhere to approved budgets and plans. Ensure implementation of the core elements of the E&I Compliance Programme.

About you

• A degree (or similar professional qualification) in the field of Finance, Compliance, auditing and/or risk.
• Professional certificates for compliance related training, risk management, and/or auditing desirable.
• Experience in a compliance function assisting the business to manage compliance related risks and ensure effective implementation of a compliance programme.
• Having worked with multiple stakeholders and management, located across multiple regions and time-zones
• Fluent in communicating in French and English
• Self-motivated with high energy and strong personal integrity
• Ability to handle matters discretely and confidentially
• Good interpersonal and communication skills with ability to interface with cross functional and across multiple jurisdictions
• Basic knowledge and understanding of local legislative requirements, current compliance practices and industry standards
