The primary role of the Metallurgy Superintendent will be to manage metallurgical test programs for current and future projects and metallurgical daily activities to ensure the doré production as outlined in the production plan in a safe, cost effective and environmentally compliant manner. The role will also be responsible for plant throughput and recovery optimization, the metallurgy departmental budget and laboratory functions.
Key accountabilities:
- Manage the implementation of the metallurgical accounting system to enable ongoing reliable reporting on the performance of the Process plant;
- Ensure metallurgical data is accurate and updated in a timely manner;
- Ensure survey of the process done accurately and continue to investigate opportunities for improvement;
- Provide support to Operations staff so that optimal gold recoveries can be achieved;
- Ensure recording of data and collection of samples done accurately;
- Monitor and account reagent/consumables usage for the process plant;
- Organize the employment of sufficient personnel to manage the metallurgical operation of the process plant and ensure the preference is given to local candidates;
- Manage the training and development of metallurgy employees;
- Manage the training of the metallurgical department employees;
- Provide technical support for operations;
- Working effectively on own and in a team comprising of different nationalities;
- Continue to investigate opportunities for process improvement;
- Ensure Process and Metallurgy samples are delivered in a timely manner and non-routine samples are submitted according to correct procedure;
- Manage ongoing metallurgical testwork programs for Lefa SMD;
- Concise plans for achieving the doré production as required and meeting the criteria of the EMP and SMS;
- Provide a concise analysis of capital expenditure request with a benefits analysis and recommendation for purchase.
Requirements for employee's knowledge:
- Minimum 5 Year's Experience in Mineral Processing production with significant exposure to gold operations and management experience;
- Experience working in Africa and advantage;
- Previous experience within a Gold Processing environment;
- Previous experience within a gold processing laboratory;
- Ability to interpret metallurgical results;
- Must have a good command of both written and spoken English. French speaking is beneficial;
- Ability to prepare Monthly/Quarterly/Yearly presentations.
Requirements for employee's qualification level:
- Tertiary Degree/Diploma in Metallurgy, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
Conditions:
- 8 weeks on - 4 weeks off rotational basis
