To assist the Security Manager with team management, investigations and maintenance of law and order and the safeguarding (prevention/detection/protection) of company's assets (life and property) within the Mining Operations and auxiliary areas.
ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE:
Operational
Appraise performance of security operations within Mining Operations/ Auxiliary Areas by regular inspections and audits in order to improve on level of security ;
Communicate all changes to policies, procedures and codes team within area of accountability;
Connecting & coordinating with various interest group within Mining Operations/ Auxiliary Areas;
Consult / Advise with line management regarding security practices;
Assist in the development of an operational plan with a three (3) month to one (1) year duration for the security function
Propose manpower plans for approval;
Evaluate current access/surveillance systems for effectiveness within Mining Operations/ Auxiliary Areas;
Initiate appropriate security actions and practices;
Renders technical advice to key stakeholders e.g. operational personnel, and line management on matters such as trends, systems, policies, procedures and codes;
Represents the business unit on various forums if applicable;
Propose / Recommend changes to existing policies, procedures and codes to ensure effectiveness;
Manage the implementation of approved changes to security systems within Mining Operations/ Auxiliary Areas;
Analyse appropriate security actions and practices by checking weekly reports on all incidents and crime reported;
Manage operational plans in accordance of Threat & Risk analysis in area of responsibility.
Financial and Costs Management
- Develop and propose annual budget and monitor expenditure on a monthly basis;
- Assist in the forecasting of next budget cycle requirements;
- Continuously identify and maintain cost savings initiatives;
- Monitor and control overtime.
People Management
- The results of the work and the results of the working behaviours of Subordinates;
- Effectively modelling values-based behaviours and applying all managerial leadership practices in relation to Subordinates;
- Build and maintaining a team of Subordinates capable of doing the necessary work.
Risks Assessment
- Identify and access all hazards and risks;
- Initiate regular risk assessments within area of accountability and update AURISK accordingly.
Administration
- Ensure screening practices for all employees employed in positions of trust where applicable;
- Ensure appropriate admin systems for personnel data, crime registers, reports, etc. are in place within area of accountability;
- Coordinate the administration of various security functions within area of accountability.
Crime
- Identify and initiate investigations in areas of concerns;
- Analyse new trends in crime or up rises in statistics within Mining Operations/ Auxiliary Areas and take appropriate action;
- Investigate all reported crime;
- Managing of technology strategy in terms of high-risk areas and crime management plans.
QUALIFICATIONS and KNOWLEDGE
- Relevant Tertiary Qualifications in the Security Industry
- Asis, CPP or equivalent
- Fluent in French and English
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of eight (8) years' experience of which five (5+) years should be on mining operations.

REPORTING TO:
- Security Manager
REMUNERATION: The successful candidate will be appointed on a two (2) year expatriate contract, which may be renewed, with regular leave breaks. The successful candidate would be offered a US dollar-based salary.
